On March 811, 2017, FIRST Robotics Competition 2017 (Shenzhen) was held at Sports Center, Shenzhen Higher Education Mega Center. It is well guided by Shenzhen Science Technology and Innovation Commission and Bao’an District People's Government of Shenzhen Municipality, jointly hosted by FIRST (An American notforprofit public charity), International Urban Youth Robotics Alliance and Shenzhen Industrial Design Profession Association, and jointly organized by Shenzhen Dadalele Culture Communication Co., Ltd, Shenzhen Conwin Tech Ltd. and Shenzhen Cloud City Technology Development Co., Ltd..

Initiated by FIRST, FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) is an influential international robotics competition, designed to inspire young people's interest and participation in science and technology, and to motivate them to pursue education and career opportunities in STEM fields. In 2017, the 28th year of competition, 3400 teams with roughly 85,000 highschool students. They competed in 53 Regional Competitions, 80 District Qualifying Competitions, 10 District Championships and 2 finals. 800 teams will win slots to attend the FIRST Championship, where they competed in finals. In addition to onfield competition, teams and team members competed for awards recognizing entrepreneurship, creativity, engineering, industrial design, safety, controls, media, quality, and exemplifying the core values of the program. Each year, teams of high school students and mentors work during a sixweek period to build gameplaying robots that weigh up to 120 pounds (54 kg).

International Urban Youth Robotics Alliance (IUYRA) has been committed to promote robotics activities for urban high school students in China. After five years of efforts, IUYRA has bridged the gap between STEAM education and FRC teams from China  and the US. From 2013 to 2016, IUYRA sponsored 25 Chinese FRC teams to participate in FRC in the US.FRC Shenzhen will be held in March, 2017, which is the first and only division in Asia.

By introducing FRC, an international high school robotics competition, it is expected to encourage youth to devote themselves to science and innovation, and to promote Shenzhen as a, ideal place for makers. New talents in science and technology will be discovered and developed.
